Private culinary lessons from A La Maison personal chef Ryan Turner
With my many years of experience working as a chef I can confidently teach you a range of professional cookery techniques. With my experience of over 10 years working in professional catering along with a great deal of experience catering for fine dining dinner parties I’ve built up a huge range of knowledge, recipes and great cookery tips. I’ll teach you how to pre prepare dishes to make your own dinner parties run smoothly and take the pressure off you. I can teach you how to make impressive dishes using classic cookery techniques, with those extra special touches and garnishes to impress your guests. We can also teach you elements of the service side, how to lay tables correctly, fold napkins, how to properly open wines and how to serve your guests.
How it works
In accordance with our bespoke catering concept I’ll be happy to teach you anything you’d like to learn, from elaborate canapés to mouth watering Entrées. I’ve given some suggestions below for different lessons which will focus on particular subjects or if you prefer I can teach you a selection of dishes which you could serve at your own dinner parties.
After we’ve decided on the dishes, I’ll give you a shopping list of ingredients which you’ll purchase ready for the lesson. Then simply my fee is £20 per hour of teaching for up to 4 people, so we can take it as fast or slow as you like.
1. The Art of bread making
Teaching you the correct mixing, proving, shaping and cooking of bread, demonstrating a number of different varieties of breads and flavoured breads.
2. Stocks and soups
Teaching you the correct methods of making professional stocks from scratch and a range of delicious homemade soups
3. Appetizers
Teaching you to make some of our appetizers from our own formal dinner menu, which will guarantee to impress your guests?

Teaching you to make homemade pastry and a range of delicious pastries, tarts and pies
4. Desserts
Teaching you anything from crème brulés, parfaits and sorbets to roulades and soufflés with additional garnishing tips to impress your guests
5. Entrées
Teaching you everything from preparing and cooking meat to preparing vegetables and accompaniments, Learn dishes from our own menu.
6. Canapés, condiments, jams & chutneys
Teaching you a range of mouth watering canapés to get your party off to a great start along with great homemade chutneys, jams and sauces to accompany your favourite dishes.
